I need to purchase a hood to accompany my drysuit for cold water diving.

Looking for comparison by someone who 's used multiple types.

Factors:

1. Warmth
2. Fit
3. Flexibility
4. Buoyancy

I dive Lake Michigan and I use a 12mm Otter Bay. Have had it to 34 degrees with great comfort. I have had no issue with fit or flexibility and it is by far the warmest hood I have ever used in the Lake. There is additional buoyancy. I have been so pleased with my Otter bay, that I have just ordered a new Otter Bay hood for my FFM. Also- cant say enough about Cricket and the others at Otter Bay, absolutely wonderful people. In fact, I returned from a dive last night (sat 8:30pm) and had a thought on the FFM hood. I e-mailed my thoughts to Cricket and had a reply this am (sun morning). And remember the Otter Bay is custom made to the measurements of your head. Final thoughts- I have a box full of hoods and the Otter Bay is by far the warmest and best quality and ideal for very cold water diving. Hope this helps. Dan

I found Waterproof hoods to offer excellent warmth and comfort. Used quite a few other brands before setting on Waterproof.
