There are cheap and easy ways to test fish, so it should be done in the United States to protect sushi consumers,” Saddler said.

The price of tuna will most likely rise if they plan to test every single fish. But testing mecury levels would be a very interesting study to do here. Where are most of the tuna farmed here? Mindanao right? And where does this mecury come from?

Here's a pinoy joke:
q: what did the fish say to the fisherman when it got sliced in half?
a: I'm "tu, na!" :D

Bioconcentration. What happens is that there is some mercury in the water and show up in low concentrations in algae or other plantlife. Little stuff eats the plantlife and their bodies end up capturing some of the mercury. Bigger fish eat the little ones, and end up concentrating the mercury some more. Big tuna eat those bigger fish and concentrate the mercury even more.

basically, these levels of mercury in sushi are "ok" for healthy adults. just
children and pregnant women shouldn't eat it

in adults, it basically causes temporary memory loses

so... some sushi, some sake.... and the next morning... wow... how
did i get here!??!?!??

(you know, that's the typical weekend for me.. hmmmm....)
