Just a couple of topside shots from the weekend. Whale tail and Sea Lions
Were they getting fed here or were they just hanging out and goofing off?
They often will migrate right along the beach in 15 to 30 feet of water and scrape the barnacles off on the bottom. It also keeps them out of the the deep water where the Orcas do their hunting. Generally, in Monterey Bay, if they cut across the deep water straight from Point Lobos to Santa Cruz, they're Killer Whale food.
