Well - I got a firm answer on being cleared with type 1 diabetes in Australia - from a SPUMS doctor - who is also on the board of directors...............no way.

I am very sad and disappointed - though he did say there are continued arguments for type 1 diabetics to be able to "cleared". Of course he ended the email with saying - there was no way he'd put his name on that certificate at this time due to the ongoing clearance issues in the area. :)

Guess I'll just have to keep reading about diving in the area until things are worked out.
Thank you all for your thoughts - thanks Doc for the extra help too!!!

Hey Kennedy,

That is very, very disappointing news. You did the right thing and ended up getting what many would consider a bum deal. But, as you indicate, the medical referees are under much heat up in QLD these days.

I admire how well you appear to be taking it--I'd be howling.

Thanks for keeping us posted and best of luck.

Regards,

Doc
