Hello ScubaBoard buddies! Well, the next generation of Cajuns are all certified and we are making our first family dive all together this morning! I am so happy to have a free moment to give a little information and post a couple of pictures of Media Luna Resort.

We arrived on Saturday and felt incredibly welcome. The staff is very attentive and good at what they do. I was completely blown away by the sheer beauty of the resort location. The buildings are situated on a peninsula that is surrounded on three sides by water. The buildings are unobtrusive and seem to blend into the environment. All of the buildings are very spread out and you never feel crowded. The pace is very slow and relaxed. I must admit it took me two days to get over all the stress of the past two weeks and to stop missing Fantasy Island, but things are much better now.

Since we are all divers, I will tell you first and foremost that Media Luna is at the current time a resort that offers diving...not a full-fledged dive resort. But I can tell you that improvements are already underway and plans for the near future are in place to make the resort much more diver friendly. The dive shop has done an AMAZING job of taking care of everybody and we are incredibly happy with the way things turned out.

I will post a couple of pictures and leave it at that for now...we've got a BIG day ahead!!!

***NOTE: The house wall (Half Moon Bay Wall) here is amazing! The shore diving is absolutely entertaining and so easy. There are two seahorses that can be spotted easily and we have seen PLENTY of spotted drum...in all their phases - juvenile, intermediate and adult as well as pipefish, nurse sharks and MANY other specimens!

How is the Sealife video lite holding up?

Cuda, we have been diving pretty shallow and focusing on the kids so far. I hope to have more opportunities to play with it later in the week. So far it has been GREAT for lighting up overhangs and crevices so I can show my grandson all the "cool" things that lurk inside them :D

I am working on learning the different settings and when to use which one...which is difficult for an airhead like me :cool2: But I'm workin' on it.

Keep the info coming.I'll be there in a few days. Can't wait to meet you and see the new resort.

Jeff

Everything really has been great here so far and the resort is absolutely beautiful. I'll be able to post some pictures when we get back to NJ.

No worries Jeff...we'll be here waiting for you! You are going to love the place and it is just what your lovely bride needs after her surgery...she'll be in heaven :D

You're so right...the dive boat was REALLY nice! We were spoiled all week. We're all done now and I will soon be posting a trip report with plenty of pictures and information.

Our last dive day was GREAT :D I was the first in the water (as usual...I'm the poster child for seasickness!) and would you believe I jumped in almost right on top of a 10' nurse shark! I was screaming through my reg trying to get everyone's attention, but there was nobody else there  Fortunately my automatic response was to turn on the camera and flip it into video mode...got him!

I'll report more later when I'm able to get settled in and get everything downloaded. But it was a FANTASTIC week and we couldn't have asked for anything more :D
