OK - who are you ladies and why are you living my life!!!!!????!!!!
I'm new to the board and slipped upon this thread and BOY am I glad! I'm a new diver (certified Aug 2 and 3 in the Puget Sound in Washington State) with the ultimate goal of getting my cave cert and diving the cenotes my husband and I have been snorkeling for the past six years!
We come down to the Yucatan every two years or so but got hooked on the underground water at Hidden Worlds about 6 years ago. We try to stay in little places - no AI's for us...we're more the 'under $60 US' type - and use the busses and haunt the ruins in the jungle and generally behave. I'd LOVE to have a dialog with you all - pick your brains so to speak - and perhaps shake hands someday as well!
Question - is there really a mastadon in Hidden Worlds?
Best to you!
Chris

Chris, if you guys get over our way to dive, I'd be MORE than happy to go out with you and your husband any time, and show you what you're going to need for cave equipment and skills. I can help you shorten your time to cave training, I think. And I've got lots of cool pictures . . . :)

You're ON!
And every Mexican beach has their own dogs as well - go figure!

Hey - welcome and congrats on your certification. Mastodon? I don't know... but now I'll have to find out! I've actually never been there, believe it or not. There is a crocodile in Angelita... live one, and it's getting kind of big. But it prefers Italian, I'm told... (not a cave, but I do end up on a lot of cenote cavern tours when friends come to visit).
Where do you like to stay down here? And same here... if you're ever traveling this way, I would be more than happy to hook you up with some good people for guiding or training. I just did my cert with Protec in PDC, based on absolutely everyone I talked to's recommendations. These guys are just the best. And to get your feet wet (so to speak) you can do the cavern tours with your OWD to get a feel for it beforehand. My dive partner is a cenote guide - Dive Cenotes • Cavern Diving in the Mayan Riviera - some good pictures on there as well.
Nice to meetcha!

Hi and welcome to SB
Your Mexican buddies look like many Dominican dogs here. If I don't hold my wife and daughter(25) back, they would take them all home. We already have 2 dogs that we brought from Canada, but apparently that's not enough for them

You can never get enough drooling, shedding, chewing, unconditional love!

The jungle dogs are from Chac Mool. Random (in reference to her genetics) is the white-gloved princess, who I've had since she was 8 weeks old, and Gollum her brother was a rescue project about 4 weeks ago. Gollum - great big eyes and a little bony body, he's almost doubled his weight in the four weeks he's been here. He's a happy boy.
So is this the offsping of that funny looking brown and white little thing at Chac Mool that always gets half my sandwich (not the car chasing one)?
That dog has eyes genetically perfected for begging food.

You mean the one with the feet that go every which direction but forward? That guy is definitely dog genetics gone awry! Actually, I haven't seen that one in a while... No, the pups are actually the offspring of a dog a guide friend of mine found around Christmastime, who turned out to be pregnant. They were born at Chac, one of the brothers is still there, and has also mastered sandwich begging.

I hope he is still around. He was so pitiful.
If you happen to see 5 megalodon rebreather divers at any of the caves in late January come over and say hi. I am the taller one.
