There is beach access near Cumber's but if the wind is blowing from the North and the seas are high, might not be the smart move. I've done this when the wind was from the South and the dive boats could not negotiate the cut. Beach entry, short swim and great dive.

Well, there is always the Bloody Bay Dive Resort (coming soon)! (Yes, Chip McCoy's sign is still up on the front if the old lot where Chris McCoy and ex-wife Laura used to live, even though the McCoy's sold that property long ago.)

But in answer to your question, nobody I know takes people out on the north side. Even if I had a work permit to do it, I would want to do DLD's from shore. There's just too much chance of people getting trashed on the fringing reef. Personally, I do all my dives from shore over there and haven't gone out on one of the boats in many years. The only site I can't reach is Cascades, and that's just because I'm too lazy to swim all the way out there.

I once grilled Perry McLaughlin about why they didn't develop Little Cayman for shore diving the way Bonaire has been developed the last few years, and his answer was that all of the shore entries were through private property. I guess he is right, though I do think there's a little strip down by the entry for Cumber's Caves which is public land.

Bruce

Hey Bruce - that strip is now owned by the Walkers. They bought it about 10 years ago - remember when the track was briefly moved to the left side lot. Now Robert seems to have left it as public access. We have done Cascades from there but also from a cut in about 200 yds east.

If Bloody Bay/Jacksons is blown out, we always dive Preston Bay - access down that track they cut when the tug got stuck on the reef a while back - opposite the windsock. Also a goodie is straight out from Paradise Vilas - nice wall, check out the Trader on the swim in & a cold Stripe at the Ig immediately on exit ...

Qu - have you ever done the far NE point dive - off the wrecked barge turn - a boat dive I think - recommended by the CCDivers guys? Annie - RIP.

Sam - RIP.
