something will happen.
I got a housing for my camera back in late november and I've taken the camera on every charter since... just in case. So today I wake up with sore sinuses and I pack everything up for the charter. I put the camera in the housing and inspected the O-ring through the acryllic back and notice a piece of lint over the O-ring... well, I can either take a chance or spend a minute or so cleaining the O-ring and re-housing the camera... Or... just leave the camera on the desk, after all, what are the odds that I'll need it if I have my other crew member do both dives.

35 foot whaleshark.
I was listening in on radio conversations and heard one was spotted. After my passengers finished thier drift dive I headed to it. There were probably 12-15 different boats coming and going on the shark during the time we were there. Everyone got a chance to swim with it as it was quite inquisitive. I suspect the shark was in the middle of everyone for well over an hour, we were there for about 20-25 minutes or so. I did don my gear and got a bit over 5 minutes in the water under it after the other crew member had his fill.
This shark was very curious, pretty much visited every boat and every diver. I was 15 feet down and it came off the surface, turned and nosed up to me, litterally... I had to lean back to keep from getting bumped, I was probably 1-3 inches from it's mouth.
It's very interesting, a 35 foot or so fish has eyes that are roughly the size of a quarter, although it was well endowed in other areas... it had something about the size of a forearm with a frilly club head down in the nether regions ( I got too close of a look as it passed inches over me).
My crew member did have his camera. If I can con him out of a couple of pics, I'll post them.
later,
