Headed for Kona 20-25 May. Looking to set up some diving beyond the 2 tank tourist dive. My son and I are not super divers, but we have lots of recent experience in such lovely places as Puget Sound.
Jack's Diving Locker offers 2 and 3 tank Adventure Dives, but requires a minimum of 4 divers. I dove with them last year and they run a good operation, but I don't want to get stuck with 3 days of easy diving because they don't get 4 advanced divers.
* Anybody else out there that might be contemplating signing up about this time?
* Anybody have any experience with how often they actually get enough folks to run the adventure dives?
The edited response from Jack's is below. It describes when they might run them during our stay and describes the dives and Prerequisites.

"I checked our computer schedule and we have the following dates available for diving.
5/22 2 tank advanced (minimum 4 divers)
5/23 3 tank advanced (minimum 4 divers)
TWO-TANK ADVANCED TRIP
This trip is designed for the adventurous diver who would like to see some of Kona's more advanced diving. Sites may include deep dives, "drift" diving, "blue-water" dives, small wrecks, lava tubes and caverns. Like all
our charters, we will take into consideration the weather conditions and diver requests to determine the dive sites. Depths can range from 30-130 feet depending on the site. The range includes sites as far north as
Makalawena and as far south as Place of Refuge. This is the perfect opportunity to explore your favorite Kona sites at new depths. And since we limit the number of people we take on this trip, there is always plenty of
room to relax and enjoy the day!
-Trip duration: 8am to approx. 2pm.
-Includes a guide if desired, tanks, weights, sandwiches, cookies, water, juice/sodas and snacks.
-Prerequisites Options: All divers must meet at least one of the following three
prerequisites - 1) Have 50 dives and been diving in the last 12 months, 2) Be Advanced Certified and been diving in the last 6 months, or 3) Have a minimum of 20 logged dives and been diving with Jack's Diving Locker within the last 30 days. A dive computer is required and a light is recommended.
-Cost is $135 + rental gear and will be booked by request with a minimum of 4 divers.
THREE-TANK ADVANCED TRIP
This full day adventure is designed for the diver who would like to see some of Kona's more remote advanced diving and has the time/desire to do three dives. Sites may include deep dives, drift diving, "blue-water" dives,
small wrecks, lava tubes and caverns. Like all our charters, we will take into consideration the weather conditions and diver requests to determine the dive sites. The range includes sites as far north as Makalawena and as far south as Milolii. Depths can range from 30-130 feet depending on the site. This is the perfect opportunity to explore Kona at new depths. There will be plenty of room to relax with a book or work on your tan since we limit this charter to 10 divers and 2 snorkelers/riders maximum.
-Trip duration: 8am to 5-6pm.
-Includes a guide if desired, tanks, weights, pastries, fruit, sandwiches, snacks, water, juice/sodas and cookies of course!
-Prerequisites Options: Same as 2 Tank Advanced
-Cost is $185 + rental gear for this "Advanced 3-Tank Trip" and will be booked on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays or Sundays by request with a minimum of 4 divers"
