I'm not sure who visiting the island might have internet access or maybe someone is arriving this week; this is an above water activity suggestion for divers or perhaps non diving companions.
Starting Thursday there will be navy frigates, cutters and tall ships arriving at Santa Anna Bai for the 2008 Maritime Festival hosted by the Royal Dutch Navy and Curacao Sail Foundation. On Friday night there is a concert of the Band of the Royal Dutch Marines. On Saturday and Sunday there are a variety of programs. People will be able to board and tour the ships, view each country's stands and participate in a Marine boot camp or watch training exercises including a rescue from a helicopter. There will also be an American F-16 fighter and the DASH-8 patrol aircraft (maybe) doing some air shows but definitely doing some fly bys. This is a great chance to look into the world of the Royal Netherlands Navy and the Coast Guard of the Netherlands Antilles as well as ships from other countries. The USA ship will be the USS Carr. There will be 2 British ships; RFA Largs Bay (might be the largest ship here) and RFA Wave Ruler. I was at the Dutch Marine base last night and forgot to ask the name of the Dutch ship. Anyway... if you're not going to be in Curacao this weekend, you might be able to view everything from a distance at ' + hostname + ' <\/TITLE>'); </script> <script language="Javascript"> </script> <title>Welcome to Live Webcams No, I don't have a time schedule but yes, it would be really neat to be watching when the planes flew over the bay. I'll be manning the table at the USS Carr on Sunday morning 9 to 11AM if by chance you'll be in town to view the event. This really is all the info I have. In true Curacao fashion, it's slow to be released.
