I'm going on my honeymoon in Maui in December and I want to do a couple dives while i'm there. Anyone done any diving there and know of any good spots? Also i'm trying to entice my fiance to get certified and dive with me...anyone have any maui dive pics or video clips that i could show her to get her interested in getting certified for the trip?

I appreciate it!

Shore dives or boat? My wife and I went through Hawaii Rafting Adventures and it was awesome. They have another "dive" name but I can't remember it right now. I will try to find my pics to send you. There are some Maui locals like KrisB, that are very helpful with where to go both shore and boat dives.

By the way, I'm ready for this weekend. Got my OU cap on right now!

GO SOONERS!!

Too bad it's a 15-hour plane ride from where I live or I'd be over there right now.

Where in Maui will you be?

Also - you may try posting on the "Hawaii O'hana" board furthe down on SB.

I'll be in between Makena and Kaewakapu...close to makena...staying in the Wailea Beach hotel

You can also go to Maui Dive Shop's websites to find the videos as well. I believe Extended Horizons and Lahaina Divers have videos on their websites as well.

Also, I don't know that there are any "bad" spots on Maui to dive. A couple of the "musts" that you'll hear are to take a charter to Molokini and take a charter to dive the Cathedrals of Lanai. Shore diving there is pretty easy and a lot of folks prefer that since charters are so expensive ($120+). Boat diving on Maui are DM led dives and some operators are better choices for beginning divers than others.

I did all of my boat diving trips with Lahaina Divers this past January...I would recommend them. One word of caution is that the boats can get a little crowded if they fill up - but they also never pair more than 8 divers with a DM. As far as "must-see" sites go, I would second Cathedrals (off Lanai), which is well worth the longer boat ride. Molokini is also pretty damn fun and should be a short ride out of Wailea.
Just typing this is making my mouth water.... :)

I took my wife on an intro dive with Lahaina Divers. I think she may have enjoyed it.....
She finished her O/W last Sunday and wants to plan another trip back to Maui.....
Have fun!!!
