Fat chance. Parks & Wildlife goes through the motions of "tracking down the criminals" but they are fully aware as are fisheries scientists that its almost always fruitless. The net could be from anywhere, and few fishing vessels are going to report losing theirs. Neither are they labeled. We lost two big trawl nets three years ago in deep water... heck maybe they're ours!

The only instance I know of where a net was linked to a boat was when a poaching ship was chased across the Atlantic by a patrol vessel. The boat ditched its net before being boarded, but the cops saw them do it and retrieved it with divers. That was a couple years ago.
