I happened across this mask at Divers Direct Outlet today and thought it was a really good fit for my small face. I'm curious about the repeated references in this thread to freediving. Forgive my ignorance, but is there anything I should be concerned about that this mask is intended for purposes other than for scuba?

Thanks!

Julie

Hey Julie,

Freedivers need an ultra low volume mask. While it is not essential for SCUBA, I think it adds to the comfort of a mask and makes it far easier to clear. As lond as the nose is enclosed, you will not have a problem.

BTW, I am taking the early bus to Boyton in the morning... Gots to leave at 4:30 to make the boat by 8:00...

Pete,

Thanks for the answer. Just wanted to be sure there wasn't something I was missing before I bought a somehow-unsuitable mask. Rodales had nothing but good things to say about them.

I'm jealous of the result of your "early bus". I'm told that Monday's marine forecast isn't looking good, so I want to hear about your dive, since your details are the closest I'm likely to get to Boynton this weekend.

Sorry Julie,

Check out the North America area for the dive report... I got the pictures and some were GREAT!!! BTW, Tina got her first taste of Salt Water too... she loved it!!!

:tease:

BTW, I have the SCUBA-Pro frameless mask that I do not use... let me know if you want to try it!

Pete,

What's a frameless mask? Somehow, I picture this silicon skirt with glass on the front, looking a bit like a jellyfish.......

Sure, I'd be interested in trying it. I'm always looking for a better fit to my mask. It seems that I spend my entire first dive clearing it. If anything, it was worse than usual yesterday, so I'm ready to try any and all masks.
