A cheap $30 Cressi panoramic mask off Amazon has been my best fitting/leaks the least mask over the past few months of diving this season and from a lot of time in the pool over the winter.

Suddenly it began really flooding in from the bottom a couple of weeks ago, which is where masks flood on me. Thought perhaps it simply needed a good cleaning so I gave it a couple of good washings with baby shampoo and warm water. Flooded awful yesterday on my first Great Lakes dives.

This is the same mask that spends 2-3 hours a week on my face when I'm doing laps in the pool. I remember to rinse my expensive new split fins, but I've never rinsed my mask. Could chlorine exposure over the past 6 months have damaged it?

unlikely. Chlorine is particularly nasty to most things, but shouldn't have much of an effect on silicone. If it's a framed mask, pop the lenses out and run it through the dishwasher. put it back together and it should be fine

It's a tri-view. Not sure if I can pop the lenses out. I have a spare of the exact same mask I'm going to try at the quarry this weekend. I do not want to have to be clearing my mask every 2 minutes on my big Lake Huron trip in a few weeks.

By chance do you store your mask directly next to or in the same bin as your neoporene? I was once told by someone to not do this as one affects the other. Can anyone else confirm this?

I have been in the pool pretty regularly as a DM candidate. I religiously soak everything for a while in water in water and something like McNett's BC wash. I have not had any issues.

My mask lives in the plastic box it comes in. I do have a neoprene slap strap on it but I do remember to take mask out of the box to dry after being in the pool or actually diving.

I spent quite a bit of time in the pool several years ago. The chlorine did a number on some of my gear as far as fading it. No BS my hair was turning blonde and could especially be seen in direct sunlight from all of the chlorine. It's safe to say the owner was putting way too much in! I always used the same mask and never had a problem with it being damaged.

I have used this same mask for about 5 years. I have since tried at least 4 more masks that are much more expensive and for some reason i keep coming back to this mask. I have not had any issues with mine after a few hundred dives.

Have you lost or gained weight in the past few months? All it takes for me is five pounds or so and the perfect mask can leak like a sieve.

Yes, but that happened maybe 3 months ago. The mask suddenly went from fine to flooding a few weeks ago. I'm now wondering if I've just not been pulling it down low enough on my upper lip. My smile lines make my mask leak.

just had my pool mask that been teaching with in the pool for 5 years or more and I never get time to rise (the regs get done at my facility ) but my personal gear never gets done . it split right in the middle but it took years .steve
