I've gotten to the point in my life where I kind of need some readers. I can see the numbers and information on my dive computer just fine but every now and then a warning message pops up and can't make out what it says.

I originally bought a Cressi frameless mask because it was super comfy and fit probably the best of all the masks I tried. I tried the 'inhale method facing down', 'the lightly set it on your face while facing up method', and 'the wiggle your jaw and squint method'. They all pass with some slightly better than others. If I snorkel or hold my breath, most masks don't leak. However, once I exhale a few bubbles from the regulator on them, they start leaking like crazy. Then if I tighten them down to stop the bubbles from shaking the mask, they leak all the time. I did eventually settle on a Scubapro Crystal Vu with a purge valve thinking maybe I unwillingly exhale through my nose causing this problem and this mask does work. It's not the most comfortable mask with the purge valve but it does work and rarely leaks.

I've tried some of the soft stick on readers and they work ok-ish out of the water but fog up almost instantly making them worthless once I'm in the water. Before I get silly and just put a tethered magnifying glass on my BCD, what other options do I have without going down the road of buying a bunch of $100-$200 masks? Maybe I could sweet talk my LDS into letting me try a handful of reader style masks in the pool but then I also put myself into a buyers perspective where maybe I don't want a new mask that someone has already blown their own snot into.

I had the same problem when I got back into diving... my eyes had changed (and the tiny print on the dive computer didn't help) and I couldn't see things well like my computer up close.

I found glass readers I could glue into my mask (search Amazon or your favorite dive retailer for "Trident Aqua-Optics Dive Scuba Mask Magnifier" - real glass, not plastic (or they were) and you can test them out with the glue they provide, but once you're *sure* they work in that location, mark it - remove them - and use glass super-glue/CA (one drop) to glue them into place.

Later I found a mask that fit me that had the option of built-in readers.

A few masks have options for that now - my LDS has a couple as my daughter just got her first mask and they had options for general lenses and readers - so I'd ask them, try a couple on, and then they can order the drop-ins in your strength.

I ordered a mask from DGX with bifocals. It fits me well and works. One of them isn't quite as good optically as the other one so I thought about returning it but it's good enough for the price
