Never dove there, did find a site that indicates they have
a full dive shop and air fills. Let us know how the diving is.....
http://www.marthasquarry.com/about.php

Ha!!!!! Onsite Full Service Dive Shop. That's pretty funny.
I mean I really laughed at that... (not at you, but that they
put that on their web site).

I haven't been up there in a couple years, but the last time I was
there yep, they did have a "dive shop" and compressor, sometimes.
It was in an "old school bus" and the compressor was a diesel compressor
that they had on a frame that rolled out the back door because it was too
hot and noisey to run inside the bus. It was truely a "redneck site"
to see.

See pics I attached from their web site below.....

Don't expect the compressor/bus to be there every weekend. I've
never asked its schedule, but I know a few times that it wasn't there.

they also have a major air quality issue. I've always been told by
others not to get air fills there because of diesel fumes sucked into
the air intake or oil leaks. I've had a couple local dive shops tell
us they wouldn't rent tanks to divers going to Marthas unless they
agreed not to get air fills there.

So.... regardless of if they have a compressor, take enough tanks
for the entire day.

The only other "structures" there was nice large picnic pavillion and
a porta-potty. Btw... better bring your own toliet paper.

Also bring anything to eat/drink you'll need. There is NOTHING near
by for lunch, etc.

As for the diving, it's got some GREAT structure diving. They don't
have any good pics on their website of the underwater buildings,
but there are several buildings and conveyor belt systems that
were part of the rock crushing and excavation process. It's really
neat to dive through.

Though I was laughing pretty hard at their claim to a dive shop onsite
(when it's really a school bus), the diving there pretty decent.

Have fun there. -Mike

dump:
does marthas have a compressor for fills? i dont see much info on web page.

Yes they have a compressor. They also have tanks and a limit supply of equipment to rent. I was there last Saturday and Sunday and the vis was good and the water was really warm until you hit 35ft.

Have fun. Martha's is a really nice quarry to dive.

LoL. Dive shop is a bus????
I wonder what their new changing rooms are???

They don't have the bus anymore and I have been going there for about two years and I have never had any problems with the air. The compressor is built in now so you will always be able to fill tanks regardless of the day.

Go and enjoy it. The amenities are basic but the diving is always good.

What do they have now? Did they build a shop on site?

I haven't been up there in a couple of years and just a really
good laugh out of their "bus" when we were there.

BTW... Those bus pic were from their own website. So you'd think
they'd update their site if they put is something 'better'.

Regarless of making fun of the bus, it's still a good place to dive.
Just no "Amenities".

I wouldn't call it a "dive shop" but it is in a metal building like structure. Still no changing rooms just a sheltered picnic table area and of course the famous porta-potty. There are actually a few restaurants down by I-40 now which is about 10 minutes away.

I have been to Pennyroyal and Cerulean and I still prefer Martha's diving over those. The vis is usually really good and there is actually a lot too see. The fish seem to be more plentiful this year too.

I don't think they have changed the website in a long, long time. It would be good if they would update it.

The bus,,, the bus,,, I want that bus!! I smell road trip!!!!!!!

I think someone must have beat you to it...I have actually never seen it. I am surprised Fred didn't sink it. Last year he sank an sailboat by firing an old civil war cannon at it. It was a sight to see.
