We had a full parking lot by 8:00 this morning at Marineland. Most divers chose to dive the Point, and were rewarded with a large school of Barracuda. I missed them. :(
I had a large group of divers, including Dana Rodda, Angelique Nugent, Lee Zaro, Jeff Shaw and Merry Passage go with me to the statues, where we found a few species of hungry rockfish. They followed Merry and her bottle of peas around. After staying too long, Merry, Jeff and I headed up to the shell zone, now home to a healthy sargassum forest. Small fish are quickly making it their home.
As I made it back up to the parking lot I was amazed to see it was now over-flowing. I guess the word is out. Marineland is one of the best beach dives in California.
