Mares Quad download question

Hi,
I'm new to this site so hope I'm doing this right.
Can anyone help - I just bought a Mares Quad, then found I needed a clip and USB to download, so bought that. I've tried connecting it to my MacBook and opening the Mares app but try as I might they don't want to connect.
I've looked through the manual, tried the website and nothing. I also downloaded Subsurface, but can't get that to work.
What am I doing wrong?

did you put the mares in PC mode ?

try this instead of subsurface
