I believe the "S" refers to the MR12S first stage, which I think is a little more compact ("S" for "shorter"?) than the traditional MR12? It looks shorter in pictures than the MR12's I own.

Anyway, the MR12 is one of the "classic" first stage designs, and works very well.

Ahh ok. I bought the Prestige 12 from LP the other day when it was $150, so I'm def happy with the price and quality and that it's also balanced. It will be great for my pool classes and become a great Octo next to the metal proton octo that im going to make primary in OW diving.
