Mares Prestige 12 deal of the day on LP

So apparently LP is having a deal of the day every day till almost Xmas.

Today it's a mares prestige 12 reg set for $150

This seems like a great price for a new quality reg set.

How is this model? Say compared to an AL Titan?

I was thinking of getting this, making the plastic 2nd my Octo and buying the mares proton Octo and making it my main since it's metal.

This should work right? I mean they are both the same when breathig that I should be able to swap their "regular" use? They both seem to have the same description and have the VAD system, so I'd assume there isn't too much difference.

This would get me a whole quality breathing setup for around $300 new and I'll get my metal 2nd stage.

it should work , the only thing is that you will most likely need to get the octo adjusted as they are set harder to prevent free flows

Yeah you're probably right. I'm sure LP will tune it for me if needed.

There were others who left reviews as making this their primary and loving it because no more cotton mouth.

Looks like I'm going to pick up the Mares prestige. Seems to be the best deal I've seen yet for a new reg. It's got an excellent 1st stage and the 2nd will be a great Octo.

How is Mares warranty for parts & replacement? As good or better than the "norm" in the industry?

After more research it seems they should both be nitrox comp for recreational diving.

Looks like I'm going to pull the trigger on the Mares Prestige 12.

Mares offers a limited warranty to the original purchaser. Mares warrants the product to be free of defects in material and/or workmanship, under normal recreational scuba use for a period of 2 years from the date of purchase from an Authorized Mares Dealer. Warranty is non-transferable only offered to the original purchaser.
Warranty claims must be submitted through the Authorized Mares Dealer where the Product was purchased within 60 days of when the defect is found. Along with the defective product, a completed valid warranty/registration certificate and original proof of purchase receipt must be supplied.

Yeah but that's cause I got a great deal on the full reg setup.

Plus the proton Octo is metal, a feature I was looking for.

And I'm in no rush to buy it, so hopefully it'll be on sale at some point in the future or maybe I'll get a coupon code to use.

I wish mares had a better warranty, but it is what it is. There's always service fees on the regs anyways.

Anyone know the difference between the Prestige 12 and the Prestige 12S?

Mares seems to only have the S model listed anymore?
