I am looking for some advice or opinions.

I bought a Mares Nemo Excel from a large authorized Mares lab dealer in the US since my local shop doesn't have them. The computer arrived in an open box. I checked the battery life and it was nearly dead. I called the store, who provided great customer service, and they quickly sent me a second one. This one also arrived in an open box with the battery was also down to the last line. I requested an unopened new computer and was assured that these are new from the factory and that they open them to test them. Is this normal? If so, this is no big deal.

Help. How much life is left in the battery if it shows one bar? Would you send it back since it was open or just find a local shop to replace the battery? Any suggestions?

Thanks for the opinions, assurances, or advice. :( I'm at a loss of what to do 3 weeks before a trip.

I would post in the Mares forum. They check it regularly and should be able to assist you. They have been helpful to me in the past.

Generally on dive computers the battery meter should read full until the battery is 1/2 discharged or more, then fall rapidly. I wold never start a dive with it down to 1 bar or a dive trip with less than 3 bars.

Thanks. I noticed how awesome the dive shops (including the one that sold me the computer) and manufacturers are on this forum. I will re-post in the manufacturer forum since I can't move it. Sorry for any double posts.
