I've just been diving in Malta and completed 10 dives with my new M1. Strange thing is the "summary page" at the front of the electronic dive log only shows 1 dive and the maximum depth, no data is shown for the total dive time logged. It's not even the first dive I completed.

Each of the 10 individual dives is recorded with all it's data. The computer also appeared to behave normally underwater. There is a single test dive that was in the computer when I got it and this also has data associated with it.

Just wondered if anybody had seen anything like this, or knows of a possible solution before I send it back.

Already tried pulling the batteries to try a "cold reboot", only for a few minutes though so all the dive data was still present. I wasn't sure how the backup battery system worked.

I own a M1 also and so far I have had no problems with it, However I am very interested in what is wrong. I imagine you will have to send it back to Mares. Please post the resaults once it is fixed. Thanks

have you tried downloading the dive info (if you have a pc interface)? I'd be interested in knowing how the data is shown there. I'm not sure what the backup life of the mares computers, but some like suunto, I believe, have a memory chip that stores this info and cannot be erased by leaving the batteries out for any amount of time. I left them out of my cobra for days with no results.

The mares m1 stores either 20 or 40 hours worth of diving. It is stored in a permanent memory after it has been there for 10 minutes. You can validate it is there by veiwing the dive profile from the computer. If Im not mistakin you dont need the pc interface to do that although it would make it quicker. Dont want to sound ignorant about the computer I use but quite frankly there are only a couple reasons I use a computer: calculate multilevel diving and store the data I need for my dive log (max depth, dive time and temp)

well, the computer stores much more precise info than it can display itself. For some, such as yourself, what the screen shows is plenty of info. I was just interested to see if he did in fact have the interface, what the pc software showed... could be the same or different than what his dc shows depending on whats going on with it.

I may have miscomunicated that last post. If you go into logbook mode you should be able to access the same info that would be downloaded to a pc.

I don't have the interface cable unfortunately. I've reviewed the data on the mares and it all seems to be okay.

I phoned the dive shop and they said to send it back and they'll send it on to Mares. Because I've only had it a few months they'll most likely replace it.

I'll let you know how I get on. Thanks for the replies.

Just pulled out my computer and verified what I was talking about, so for future reference if you want to view a profile without a pc interface all you have to do is enter into dive log mode. Then choose the dive you to view and hold down the left button for about three seconds. It will then enter the profile and you can advance through it by pushing the left button.

Hope they replace it for ya. happy divin.

You def. can review the dive with the dive computer but....it is much much easier to just down load the data.....this way you can look at the cool graphical dive profile with the saturation bars! I love my M1!!!!

Unfortunately as I didn't have the link and didn't want to lose the data....I had to transfer it by hand into a spreadsheet. Ten dives, with readings every 20 seconds for on average 45 mins, with depth and saturation data.....what a joy.

Still it's done now so I can get the thing sent off today.
