I recently purchased a used Mares M1 computer and found that it is missing an O-ring in the battery compartment. I have contacted at least 5 different dive shops including several Mares dealers and the offices of Mares trying to either order an O-ring or get the info on the proper size. It's amazing how little cooperation you get from Mares. Mares went as far as giving me a part number (46110225) but said to go thru a local dealer. The dealers around me are not authorized Mares dealers and the authorized dealers either would not take an order to be sent out by mail or had a large minimum order size. None of the dealers were able to give me the correct size.
I went to the local hardware store and picked an o-ring that seems to fit well but I sure would like to have some verification that it will work before I go away on a two week dive trip to Roatan in October.
I used a 1/16" thick O-ring with an ID of 11/16". What I'd appreciate learning form someone is:
1. Does this computer use a simple o-ring or some other type of seal (the cap of the battery compartment is oval but the o-ring does appear to stretch to fit)?
2. What diameter / thickness o-ring (if that's what it is) does Mares use?
I'm hoping that someone with an M1 or Dacor Dawin (same computer) will check their unit and reply.
Thanks
