Mares in Bahrain??

Hello everyone,

Just signed up to this Board, and I have to say I'm impressed with all the useful information & discussions going on here. I'm currently living in Bahrain, but I try to dive in different countries as much as my work allows.

Unfortunately, my first post involves a problem with my Mares Nemo dive computer. I purchased it in Thailand around a year ago, but no problems until now. Can anyone tell me if there is an authorised distributor in Bahrain for Mares who can help me? I can't find anything on the Mares website.

Hey there & sorry for the late reply.

Welcome to Bahrain ! Hope you enjoy your stay here since in a month or 2's time, this delightful little place is going to turn into hell's roasting pit.

Anyhow, I believe that aqua hobbies ( on old palace road ) may be able to hook you up, they are the most "advanced" shop I know of, they have the newest equipment I've seen and seemingly alot of people go there.

Another great place is Eco-Dive center, it's located just inside the walls of the marina club, accross the road from exhibition road. The guys there run the place out of love for diving, their rates are the best I've seen anywhere & they are also the most knowledgeable people I've met, real salty divers.

Of course, for the absolute best & most looked up to people, you just can't beat the yatch club.

I recommend you stay away from Aquatique, they are generally higher priced than everyone else, and a few of my friends have had trouble with them. The last time I went there, they gave me a badly photocopied sheet of A4 & tried to convince me that they were the only dive school "allowed to teach PADI certified Pearl Diving", I didn't believe a word of it. No wonder it was the last time I went there.

btw do you still dive ? I'm bored to death of the limited dive sites we have, but if you guys do plan a trip, I may be interested in coming, haven't dove for several months (not since last summer).

Another late reply - have just joined the site myself as well. Try Divers Valley in the Al Alawi coplex near Nuwaidrat, pretty sure they are an authorised Mares distributor.
