i find that the display is sometimes ridicule to read in bright sunlight (one of the drawbacks of a backlit display).

Did you mean difficult? I agree the it's hard to read in bright sunlight - show me an LCD that isn't. The thing I love about the Icon is the "night view" setting. Once you are in the water it's perfectly clear and all the alarms and all the important information is still in color.

take a look at the uemis Zurich. you can read easily everything from the display even in the sun! I think they are using OLED and not tft
