divers are reluctant with things that are "outside the box"

That's why I started using a computer, that's why I started using nitrox, that's why I'm constantly evaluating my diving and making changes, because I'm reluctant to make changes. Some changes are good - some aren't. The HUB is not, IMO, a good change.

I think the term is "gimmick"
Ok... I was a total noob when I bought it.

I got if off of the clearance rack for $399 for the BCD with Regs. At the time, I couldn't fathom spending over $600 on just a reg. AT THE TIME ;)

Regardless of it's technical merits, the "weirdness quotient" is too high.

You are unlikely to have a buddy, boat hand or DM who has ever had any experience with it, or even seen one, and you don't want to be underwater with an emergency, with a buddy who is trying to figure out how to operate your stuff.

Want2DiveMore:
I'm looking to buy a BC and I like the concept behind the Mares HUB. With limited dive experience and equipment knowledge would anyone recomend going with this or an alternative?

Diving: I live in Texas so alot of my short trips are going to be Lake Dives with one to two warm water ocean dives a year with maybe a cold water ocean dive (Seattle area) every other year.

Help over whelmed and swimming in a sea of equipment confusion.

A friend of mine used a HUB briefly, before I met him. He says he didn't like that the hoses & connections were all inside & hard to get to when there was a problem. he had an O ring blow on a hose & was not happy with how much work was involved in replacing it.

I don't think he ever complained about how it dove, but he soured on it from a 'practical use based on the design' viewpoint after that.
