We are all set to book our trip and have to decide between going at the end of March or the end of May due to our schedule. March is closer so more tempting but it looks like the water temperature is slightly higher in May. Does anyone have any input as to which they prefer?

We were there in January, the water was 78. I am a cold water weenie and had on an old 5/4 and by the end of the dives I was getting cold......but they were 80 minute dives. Having said that, given my druthers and given being in WI I would go in March rather than My.

I would vote for May, not only is the water warmer but the crazy currents often seen in March/ April are not common. In addition, April frequently sees swarms of thimble jellyfish (only irritating)

Also, the crazy winter rush when everyone wants to get out of the cold is passed and you will find less crowds. June is just as good, as is September/October.

I vote for end of May as well. If you swing by the BA (gonna be there with some of your NC brethren), I would probably buy you a marg. If that tips the scale, so be it....

I'll be at BA then as well. We have fisherpersons in our group who prefer May, so that's when we go. Otherwise, I wouldn't much care; it's all good.

May over March - Accommodations are cheaper and there are fewer tourists staying on the island. Water temp will also be about 2-3 degrees warmer 79 in March vs 81-82 in May on average.

I'd base it on your airfare price when you travel because I see you are from CLT and those $700plus prices stink out loud from our airport nonstop into CZM! Enjoy your trip.
