Kona Diving Co told us that the Manta Ray night dive has been cancelled tonight because of the swell induced by the storm in this area. They warned us against any shore diving, especially from west-facing shorelines. They said a couple people got badly injured at the two-step earlier today. And they said that probably all the Manta Ray dives in the area of the airport would be called by all companies today. I didn't realize it, but that dive is a bit MORE north of Kona than are other dives out of Honokohou (sp?) Harbor.
We were out on their boat today and would found some nice diving south of the harbor, though not without swells and with some reduced visibility.
Apparently this type of weather is always a risk on Kona in the winter. We're hoping for better weather tomorrow, the 1st.
Happy New Year!!
