Just heard word that Manta Ray is closing it's doors next month. :11:

Anyone know what happened? Weren't they sold a while back?

Guess I should use my fill card this weekend, eh? I don't really care for MBDC, but there's no other decent shop for EANx fills down there.

Mel

I guess that would explain why there inventory has not been replenished.

Of course there have been rumors to that effect a several other times over the last few years.

I guess we will find out soon.

So whens the sale??

Aaron (the owner for as long as I can remember) was in there running the show this
past weekend. AFAIK, Manta Ray hasn't ever changed hands.

My problem with fills at MBDC is logistical -- no place to park with the boat, and they
fill VEEERRRYYY slowly. Aquarius Del Monte banks Nitrox 36, though sometimes they
have to top my HP tanks with air and I end up with about 33. All things considered, I'd
have 32ish in half my tanks and 40ish in the other half, so they will be an imperfect
solution.

And Aquarius doens't pump Argon. I'm kicking around a number of ideas (filling an HP
100 with Argon and transfilling at home, getting a couple of more Argon bottles and
having Linda get anything that needs filling filled at AWS during the week, ....)

I know someone who made a good deal on a Diving Concepts drysuit at Manta
this past weekend. I'd say "make offer", but deal with Aaron, who will have the final
say on price.

aint't that the truth, nitrox fills in there on a saturday afternoon take forever...

Let's hope the efforts of one current MBDC employee are effective in implementing procedures for those of us who need fills while we wait. I've never been successful in getting a 32% fill from MBDC. It's been either "wait a couple hours," "Oh, sorry, that guy's at lunch," or the like. To make matters worse, my LDS has no plans for EANx, not to mention Argon & Helium.

I topped off a 32% fill with 36% from Aquarius in a pinch (for friggin $20.) I watched in disbelief as the dude closed my isolator and proceeded to fill each cylinder independently, until I stopped him. Sheesh. Get a guy hooked on gateway gas then cut off his supply... Grrrr.....

Hey Josh,
ADT in Pittsburg has good service with tank fills. Trimix and banked 36%... They've always hooked me up with top offs gratis. But then again we could always homebrew ;)

Homebrew would be cool with a couple buddies and a garage. Might be worth it to do my own O2 anyway.

I'd still like to see Aquatic Dreams setup for nitrox. They certify hoards of new divers. You'd think at least a few would come back for gas if they knew the benefits.
