i need a manifold to double up my steel LP95s ... really looking for thermo or halcyon ...
i can get a brand new halcyon for $200 at beneath the sea this weekend .... should i just buy it or look for a used one?

FYI (i posted a WTB manifold in the classifieds as well)

That is a good price. Bear in mind that if you buy used, you may have to clean it and need to verify its functioning. If you are comfortable with doing that, a used one could be a far better prospect.

It may come down to how quickly you want to have the manifold. Used doubles seem to come up for sale fairly often, but manifolds by themselves less frequently. And if you are fussy about brand, it might take some time to find what you want.

About 2 years ago I bought a used manifold (actually, just the left post and isolator) and was told that it had just been serviced to O2. When later I tore the valves apart and rebuilt them, I discovered non-O2 O rings, one O ring that was the incorrect size and some missing parts.

So now, if I bought used, I would service it myself no matter what I was told. Heck, the rebuild kits only cost me $8.00. But when deciding new vrs. used, I would also factor in my time and the cost of the kits.
