Catcarouser, you make a lot of good poitns, but this statement is very misleading:

"Understand that here in Florida, manatees are common. Repeat, common."

When there are only around 3,000 of something in the state, they are not common.

I agree. Saying manatees are common is misleading. They are really amazing animals. Gentle swimming cows.

Nice write up. Thanks. Can you add some facts on how manatees came to US waters? Most people don't realize they are not indigenous.

Manatees were discovered in the1500's by the spanish in Florida waters . They hunted them for food and oil. In 1830's there were laws passed to protect them and it was made illeagle to hunt them. The early sailors who would see manatees would think they were mermaids. Boy they must have been use to some ugly women back them,:D :D

As for the penguin fries, I prefer bald eagle myself, taste a little like chicken:D :D
