Did you see the news clip where they showed the Victim of the "attack" getting into his vehicle for his wife to drive him to the hospital... didn't even have the wound dressed and it was no longer bleeding!

Then they showed a clip from a chopper... saying they had gone to the air looking and located this shark close by... I swear it sure looked like a dolphin to us:dork2:

Let's not forget that the "victim" has apparently signed an exclusive deal to tell his story with a particular media outlet. It must have been terrible for him!

To be honest, it looks like he scraped his own leg while messing around with a rock. I've had scrapes like that as a kid. It said he was released midday; did he even require stiches?

Sydney Shark Attack | Mona Vale shark attack | Northern Beaches

lol what a load of crap but its the Sydney Morning Herald so its not much of a surprise. They certainly like their Shark attack stories but this is pathetic.

err... news.com.au ran the same story and if i recall correctly wanted to expand shark nets and further areal helicopter patrols by the corrupt owner of sharkwatch.

additionally, there is an article on SMH at the moment that is looking at Pew Environment's cause for overfishing of sharks...

neither of the big news houses are free of "infotainment" but SMH is probably the best of the bunch.

Ridiculous over sensationalized :shakehead:

Headline should read: Douche-bag gets bit by 3' long shark after pulling nurse shark/wobbegong's tail.

I would take bets on that.

Never mind, it says he was playing in the water and probably stepped on it. Not his fault.

I do like how a tail from a 5' 4" long Wobbegong could be a GW at first glance!

"I saw a bit of the tail, which looked like a [great] white," he said.

Yeah, the last 3-foot long wobbegong that I saw looked JUST LIKE a 14-foot great white shark.

:rofl3::rofl3::rofl3:

I love the bit where it lifted him out of the water and then tried to drag him out to sea!

you have to understand that Michael Brown is absolutely bias, and most likely didn't even see the event. i personally don't have a great opinion of him since he stirs up sh*t whenever there is a shark sighting in off sydney [among other reasons]

he was the one who wanted to begin coastal patrols of the beaches of sydney, paid for by the NSW government, and take paying clients on the side as well.

...

just re-watched the story... when the "story" broke, workmates and i watched it a few times and came to the conclusion that the vision is actually a tongue-in-cheek pisstake... where Brown is describing the GREAT WHITE attack and blood GUSHING from his leg, there's the shot of the guy with his leg up in the car looking pretty relaxed, then again when the blood is G U S H I N G there's a shot with maybe 30ml of blood on his leg...

stark contrast to the vision from Bondi of a ghostly white surfer with an already yellow hand/lower arm being put in an ambulance after a real large shark attack in late 2008 i think?

Funny how a couple weeks before this.. they had media coverage of releasing Captive raised baby wobbies into Shelly and the comment was "Don't worry about these sharks .. they are more likely to tickle you with their whiskers than to bite!"

Scarey critters hm?
Scary.. Umm well, I might not scare easy then :p

Looks like an oversized catfish more than a great white to me :p
