Keep looking for updates. Very close to me. My Girlfriend read the story last night and she starts OW class on Monday. Glad she did not freak out.

My boss just mentioned this to me this morning. He thinks it's crazy to dive. :/

Found an article which says a little more than that one.

Man found motionless in shallow water near ocean floor
Deputies said the dive captain noticed Croy hadn't surfaced when expected, so he went into the water to search for him.

Just a little insight from Sebastian.
Jeff Croy was a well-liked competent diver who has been working on the 1715 Fleet treasure wrecks for 11 years. (If you are not aware of the 1715 Fleet here ya go: The 1715 Fleet Society) He was working on the Capitana, a 60 foot treasure boat belonging to the folks that hold the lease on most of the wreck sites.
There is a post from the Captain of the Capitana and some additional info here: The Treasure Beaches Report brought to you from Florida's Treasure Coast.: 6/21/13 Report - Sad Announcment. Also, Gold Coin Hoard, Mayan Gold, Price of Gold Drops & More
A report I got from someone at the memorial service @ Capt Hiram's is that Jeff had told his buddy from Colorado (where he is from) several days ago that he was suffering a lot of pain from an abcessed or infected tooth. They were diving in ~40 fsw about 4 miles out, water temp is in the 80 degree range and vis has been good. A bad tooth can do a number of bad things to a diver, but until the Indian River County Sheriff's Dept is done with the investigation we may not know the official cause. I'll add more when I learn more. As with all dive accidents, let us hope we can learn from this tragic loss.
RIP Jeff.
Another treasure hunter crosses the bar.
