I just heard yesterday that the city made them stop filling the lake. Then someone ( lawyer, owner, whoever) pulled out some papers and howed the city 6 ordinances that said they could keep filling and the next day those ordinances were changed and made them stop again. Now I think they are waiting on rain. Looks like they might get plenty of it in about a week with Hurricane Dean.

We are planning opening on Nov. 15th.

Kind of hard for me to believe that anyone in the city would want them to stop filling Mammoth Lake. This is one of the biggest things to come to Clute. Mammoth Lake is going to bring alot of people to the area and improve the local economy. Plus I don't see how anyone cause stop from the lake filling since it is filling naturally. There was being water pumped into the lake but it didn't seem to be helping much so the pumps have been turn off for severaol months.

The first train platform was added last weekend. This platform is 16' square with benchs on 3 sides.

Also check out some of the photos.

I have no idea on the filling process. How do you fill anything man made? I just heard it ( rumors) in a dive shop in Arlington 4 hours away, so anything is possible in the "telephone game". There was also the discussion about Clute and the tax dollars it would bring and anyone who would want to stop it would be crazy.

I hope that my other post didn't sound out of place. Here is a little about how the fill is happening. I am part of Hydrosport Scuba staff which will be running Mammoth Lake.

Mammoth Lake Scuba Park is sand quarry that is filling natural by water from the water table. Pretty much any hole dig in this part of the country will fill with water if it is dug deep enough to reach the water table which is somewhere around 10'-12'. While they have been digging sand for somewhere around 55 years they have been running a pump 24 hours a day to keep the water out so they could continue to dig. Last year on Dec. 30(I think) Venor construction turned off the water has been rising ever since. The lake will fill up with water not matter if it is a scuba park or not. With it being a scuba park there will be supervision rather than a hole that grows up in weeds and kids sneak in to go swimming and might get hurt.

There is so much going on right now. The pavilons are built and many picnic tables are being built. Last weekend the edges got mowed to clean the place up a little. There is about 5' of water in the sub as of last weekend.

If yall have any queston feel free to ask and I will answer what I can or get you an email or phone number to someone that can.

I am sure it will be a great spot....count me in on some of the early dips! :D

I'll be waiting until next summer to try it out. Warm water wuss here.

Thanks so much for giving us first-hand info, Michael. I really appreciate it. Can't wait to go try out this new spot, it sounds like it's going to be top-notch. I'm sure we'll be there by early next spring.
