I am just starting my research now. Within the next month a buddy and i are planning to go down to malibu from Nor-Cal to do some shore dives. He drives trucks for a living, so he travels down to your neck of the woods a lot. I guess we will be staying in malibu and would like to stay a few days to do some diving. So, what are the killer shore dives in the area and what are the good shops with good air and full fills?

Are your so-cal dive spots state secrets? Anybody have any decent shots?

I think we're all afraid of giving any recommendations, since the conditions have been pretty bad lately.

Check out http://sandeaters.org/ for some good info.

Here's another good spot for info:

Even those of us that live down here are struggling with where we should go this weekend.

Thanks Christian, I usually dive the north coast, where 10 foot visibility is nice. I am still wet from my dive here in our local lake where we had visibility about the same. Thanks for the resources, I will check them out.

Ok, depending upon the conditioins of the day the following are excellent dives:
-Deer Creek Ventura
-Stair Case (Ventura/LA County Line)
-Leo Carrillo (norht end, sequint point and all between are good)
-Point Dume Pinnacles- 548 yard surface swim and often with a current to fight on the way back. Point Dume Canyon - if you want to go deep, this will get your there with a very short surface swim. Sand bottom but there is stuff to see if you look close and are good at picking out life from its camoflauge.
-Nicholas Canyon
-Mailibu Road
http://www.sandeaters.org has details of all of the above dive sites.
