So I have the opportunity to dive in the latter part of the year : November/December. I was wondering if anyone has any opinions on Palau vs a Maldives live aboard? I dived Palau recently and it was fantastic ; I just have never been to the Maldives as yet and with the economy being what it is, was hoping to optimize the experience.
Thoughts welcome.
Thanks.

We've done the Palau Aggressor and Manthiri (Maldives) in the past few years. Both were great but I liked the diving in the Maldives more because we saw more of a variety of critters large and small. I liked the Palau Aggressor better in general but the Manthiri was fine too. The currents were sometime a little too nuts for my taste in the Maldives, and happened to be pretty tame when we were in Palau, maybe partly luck of the draw. If I was choosing right now I'd probably look at the Aggressor or Peter Hughes boats in the Maldives, but I'd want more than a week on the boat - either a 10 night charter or 2 back-to-back weeks. (If the flights to either didn't suck so badly I'd be planning a trip now...)

Maldives diving is spectacular. You cruise stopping at your dive destinations. Since you have been to Palau it might be cool to go some place new. Once you get in the water it won't dissapoint you.

We offer excellent service with 3 to 4 dives a day. Island hopping and night fishing and other activites. Our dive guide, Manik has over 15 years of experience and did work on Manthiri as the dive guide for over 10 years before starting his own business.
