Could you elaborate on the nature of the suck? (The diving? The town? What's the reason?) Also, have you dove the larger surrounding islands? I'm seeing I could probably play some tennis if I went to the islands of Koh Samui or Koh Pha Ngan, which could be lovely.
There is nothing Thai about Koh Tao. The reefs are overcrowded with new OW students. Much of the reef is blech and i think a lot of the life has been scared away. White Rock was ok for the schooling fish. The food has been westernized and lacks any authenticity. I'm not a party guy any more so that whole scene is lost on me.
