You guys are all wrong.

Seattle . . . The most spectacular views from a dive site.

Would that be on the 5 foot viz days or the 12 foot viz days?

:D

SoCal including the 'burbs of Avalon, Anacapa and Santa Fill-in-the-Blanka.

hmmm...Anacapa.

I could see it from my hut in Santa Blanka

population was 3 permanent residents

Anacapa is the only one of the Channel Islands to have a non-Spanish-derived name. Anacapa comes from the Chumash word eneepah, meaning mirage island.

love the word...

Pomapano Beach - but it falls under Fort Lauderdale.

Thats where i am headed saturday - Tenneco Towers.

I would say High Springs, FL area is good for cavers tho.

oh wait...aside form the bahamas, i have never been outside of FL. Sounds like Hawaii is where its at.

Lauderdale by the Sea Florida is certainly one of the best locations anyone could ask for. It is a small, quaint beachside town right next to Fort Lauderdale. Tons of shipwrecks, deep reefs, shallow reefs, great for scuba and snorkeling. We have the Gulf Stream close to shore which brings pelagic species in close. Only 70 miles to Bimini Bahamas and Grand Bahama Island, a quick drive in the car to the Florida Keys or central Florida springs or West coast Florida wrecks & spearfishing. The town is half deserted in the summer months and best of all...you get to say that you dive in the Devils Triangle :D

Palm Beach-Ft Lauderdale. You can pretty much consider it one big city really. Can't beat the consistancy and the diversity of diving here.

Plus you don't have to be rich to travel here!

Anywhere in Hawaii on a bad day is better than most other places on thier best day.

My vote is for Honolulu or Kona.

Anacapa is beautiful as well, but the turtles in HI, much nicer. Seattle! You have to be kidding! Does the sun ever shine there?

St Louis beat out Detroit and Richmond? wow, the new knife and gun club?

LOL, I just remember the big stink a few months back when the "most dangerous city" report came out, it was all over the national news because they had ranked St. Louis #1 most dangerous, despite the fact we have less crime than other cities the same size.

Then there was this whole week long news segment about how this company arrived at their numbers and statistics. Basically Mark Twain was right when he said that "there are lies, damn lies, and then you have statistics"

Oh yea, if you want the "best" in bad viz... You could try to dive in one of the two rivers around St. Louis, Mississippi River = 0.0000001 micron of viz, and Missouri river = 0.00001 micron of viz. (DO NOT dive in these rivers it is too dangerous this is just a joke!)

Oh ya, and my vote real vote on this thread is for Maui (see above). Excellent diving!

Seattle . . . The most spectacular views from a dive site. 50 or more shore diving sites within a couple of hours drive. Multiple boat charters (but you don't have to). Tons of dive shops, including tech oriented ones. Spectacular destination diving resorts close enough for weekend trips.

And the best coffee . . .

I'm hooked and I only did one dive at Harper Pier. I'll definitely be back there soon.

I can't speak for coffee though since I can't stand the stuff to begin with. :)
