i have had a ikelite canon 40D housing and now have the ikelite canon 7d housing, my 40d housing when the front and back was latched shut there was about a 1mm gap between them, but with the 7d housing there is practically(you can hardly slip a piece of paper between them) no gap at all which worries me a lot why is this? at least with the older 40d housing i had confidence that it was sealed with the 7d housing how do i know that the oring gets compressed with time and the front and back makes contact with each other and next thing i know i have a leak and am minus a camera and lens it does not fill me with confidence, have you changed the mold's and if so why, i bet there are more ikelite owner out there wondering the same thing any answers to this question would be appreciated
Steve

If you put both housing fronts back-to-back, you will notice that the 7D housing is slightly wider, which means that the two housings came from different molds and also use different o-rings. Lightly lubricate each housing o-ring and re-install on your housings. You should be able to see a dark line where the o-ring is sealing against the back. As water pressure increases at depth, the housing compression will actually improve that seal.
When each housing is stored, remove the housing o-ring, lightly lubricate, and store in a zip-lock bag per your instruction manual. This will facilitate a long o-ring life.
