Let me start off by saying hello everyone. I have been browsing these forums for a long time but have never posted anything. Thanks for the past and future knowledge I will acquire from these forums.

I recently stopped by a Dive shop and I ran across a cool Lanyard that uses a magnet rather then the normal clips. Like I normally do when I see something cool I bought it! After a few minutes of playing with it like a kid in the candy store I got to thinking. Will this affect my dive computer, or lights at all? The little magnet is pretty strong so I do not see how it wouldn't. Think I will go out tomorrow and get a regular one unless some one talks me out of it. ;)

I don't think it will affect you computer or light, but compass yes. Besides, I would not trust such a bond against the forces during diving. What's wrong with the simple mechanical clip?

Yeah I should of thought it over a little bit before I bought it. Nothing wrong with the simple mechanical clip. The magnet is pretty easy to attach with one hand after you have it extended. Tomorrow I will head back and pick up a few of the regular clips. Thanks for warning on the compass.
