Hi,
Laugh at me if you will, but I made my first dive in Myrtle Beach (the Discovery Dive). We trained in a Pool for a couple hours and the next day went 50 ft. down to a shipwreck. I was scared to death at first but once I calmed down, I enjoyed it. I want to get SCUBA certified up here and spend a vacation somewhere where the visibility is better. I had a really tough time with equallizing probably because I have had sinus problems my whole life but it was worth it. I can't wait to get more involved with it!

:thumbs_up Greetings from Matt. I wanted to welcome you to Scuba Board! I hope you enjoy your time here. Take care. :sunny

congrats GPR on your first dive.... I have good news and bad news...

The good news is... "It was your first dive"

The bad news is... Now you're hooked on diving like the rest of us here ( and that is really the GOOD news )

Anyway, welcome to the board... the place to find great chats, great info, and great people... enjoy.

we're glad you found us...

HI, welcome and congradulations on your first dive!!!! I just certified this year and have always had problems with my ears, bad eustation tubes. My first few dives were definitly a learning expirence. I have gotten much better and with only 16 dives logged have really gotten good at different clearing techniques. My biggest problem was learning to relax. It will come. Good luck to you.

:dazzler1: WoooooHooooo! Welcome to the addiction and to the ScubaBoard!!!

Congrats and welcome to an addictive hobby!!! I've always had allergy problems, Ohio river valley and all, the worst in the country. I usually take a benedryl the night before a dive and start checking my tubes the morning of the dive. Work on it and you will find that you can equalize without pinching the nose by moving your jaw as you breathe, if you practice at it the diving experience is much more enjoyable when you can equalize on every breath. There is nothing worse than an ear that will not equalize, on the other side a reverse block can be an Euphoric feeling on ascent!

Congrats on discovering scuba! Welcome to the board, if you have any questions PM me.

Congratulations and welcome to Scubaboard! This is a great resource to help you towards your goal of getting certified. Keep us up to date on your progress.

Welcome to ScubaBoard! :happywave

Congratulatons on your first dive!

You may want to talk to a doctor familiar with Diving Medicine about your sinuses to be sure that you are OK to dive.

At least, learn what you can about it in our Diving Medicine forum. While the doctors that will respond to your posts there will not make specific medical recommendations to you, they can explain what someone needs to look out for and what you should keep in mind about some medications in general.

Dive safe!

Christian

P.S. Due to the high volume of new posts in the Introductions and Greets forum, it's not always possible to keep up with all the new posts here. So, please help me out and send me a PM if you post anything you want me to read or repsond to in this forum.
