Hi
I have a Powershot s50 in the above housing and I want a macro lens to fit. I find that the Inon lenses which get good reviews here, require a mount that screws into the tripod fitting on the base. But that is where my Ikelite Substrobe DS 50 attaches on a Ikelite tray.. I am not handy enough to build a new one.. Has anyone had any success in getting around this problem?

For those of you who shoot clear tropical waters do you usually use strobe when shooting macro? I would always need it here but would be buying as much for holiday use as on local dives.

I find that the Sea and Sea adaptor mount for my Sea and Sea 16mm wide angle lens will also fit the Sea and Sea 2T and 3T macro lenses. Has anyone used these with canon digital similar to mine? Do they use framers? Any comments or suggestions?

Thanks

Alison

Yes thanks for that suggestion, but that Ikelite tray already comes with an anti roll bar and it is not a dead flat base so before I buy I'd rather hear from folk who have made it work (nor not).

Hi,

I don't have the exact same set-up, but I think it's similar. I have the Canon S-60 with WP-DC40 housing and an Ikelite tray for my DS50. I recently bought a mount base to fit a WA lens and the shop helped me to make it all fit.
There are two threaded holes in the mount base and two holes in the tray. By making one of the holes in the tray a little larger and using two longer screws it was possible to fit it all. Of course I don't know if the mount base for the DC300 has the same holes etc., so you have to physically see all the parts together. But I think you should be able to make it work. Good luck!eyebrow

Thanks DJ
I assume that means that the mount base (for an Inon?) is not a fixed length because it it was screwing it into the tray rather than directly into the housing would place it further away from the lens and so it wouldn't line up?
I am going to pursue the Sea and Sea option a little further because the prospect of not having to buy a new base/adaptor is attractive but I may well come back to this route.
Thanks again
Alison

The Inon 28AD mount base was screwed onto the bottom of the housing, otherwise it wouldn't fit. The tray was then screwed to the mount base with two screws.
I haven't used this set-up underwater yet, but I will in a few weeks, so I hope it works well.

Now I have a clearer picture, thanks. I would be interested in how you get on, either PM me or post again after you have had it out.
Thank you
