Looking for some insight into PADI rescue course within the MA or RI area. I’ve talked with PG Dive, Atlantic Divers, and Mass Diving to get a perspective of how they conduct their courses and what is involved. I know there are a lot more LDS in the area that I have not talked to but needed to start somewhere.

I am curious to know who has participated in the Rescue course within our area. What were your thoughts on how it was conducted and executed. Given it is the instructor who really makes the course, would you mind sharing that also.

This is one course where I do not want to short change myself on the content or the execution of the course.

Thanks in advance for your insight.

I took mine through Mass Diving, and it was taught by "Bud" McGovern. It was among the best classes I've taken. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Bud as an instructor, and I hear he makes some decent backplates too!

Well, it's like my mom used to say. "It's all in what YOU put into it".

I just finished Rescue with PG about 2 weeks ago. Marc was our instructor and I think he did a great job. His strongest point is probably his ability to help you assess a situation and determine what the alternatives are, which is far and away one of the most critical rescue skills. The truth though is that you have to practice the skills in order for them to be second nature. I would recomend PG.

I'm in the rescue class now with south shore divers in weymouth and all is going well. Pool time this saturday and then open water likely next week or so. It is a fun and interesting course for sure with more hands on than some of the others.

I took mine with Northeast Scuba in Chelmsford. Paul Indeligatto (not sure of last name spelling) was my instructor. The DM/victim was 220 lbs so it added an interesting challenge. (You will rescue a diver from the bottom....tow the diver while administering rescue breaths...carry the diver by yourself onto shore...etc.) Any course with Tom Huff (owner/tech diver) will be worthwhile from sheer experience.
