Will be at the Ritz Carlton in Cancun for a few days then moving down to Playa. Any recommendations on really nice hotels (comparable to Ritz) in Playa. Have done the "tripadvisor" research but wanted to get the "divers perspective". Thanks.

Has anyone stayed at the rosewood or fairmont MAYA KOBA? How far from diving cenotes or taking ferry to COZ? Seems like it's huge and could take a while to get around the resort, specially hauling dive gear? any comments or suggestions? Thanks!

Need to decide if you want AI or European plan. All the AI's in PDC are pretty big and there are a lot of small hotels that are very nice. Try Playa del Carmen, Mexico's Virtual Guide Book : Playa.Info , its is the best board for the coast south of Cancun. BTW, the cenotes start about 45 minutes south of PDC and run down to Tulum (1h 15m). The ferry dock in PDC is close to Juarez and 5th Ave. Get the map from Can-Do Maps and travel guides for PDC, it has ALL the hotels and links in it.

That takes car of most of the hotels in Playacar. Most of the large hotels in PDC are AI and the small hotels don't have enough rooms to support on site ammenities. Nice hotels, just not much for pools, etc. I know that the Grand Porto Real used to have a EP option. That one may be your best shot. Ask the people on playainfo, if it is in playa they will know about it.

The cenotes are at 20 min away from Maya Koba hotel, we can pick you up at the lobby, for Cz you have to take a taxi to go at the ferry, there is another option in PDC try Magic Blue hotel, this is an small hotel but is a very confortable place to stay, you can have a very good price if you get a dive package with us. riviera maya professional scuba diving, cave, cavern, open water, experienced dive master, playa del carmen, cancun. buceo profesional en la riviera maya, buceo de caverna, mar abierto, playa del carmen, cancun or alvaro@alwaysdiving.com
