Can either you or Luxfer prove that the tanks have NOT been contaminated in some manner during transit from the factory to the dealer? Any diesel fumes get in there?? How about a truck driver wearing work gloves getting his or her finger in the neck? Do you want to roll the dice??? How much is your life worth?

This is luxfers quote: "Nitrox-ready: New Luxfer scuba cylinders are specially prepared at the factory to be suitable for use with oxygen-enriched air mixtures."

They say 'oxygen-enriched air mixtures'. They don't say "o2 clean".

http://www.luxfercylinders.com/support/bulletins/20021017.shtml

"All Luxfer scuba cylinders manufactured since January 2000 were properly prepared for oxygen-enriched service when shipped from the factory. However, if a cylinder has not been maintained in a proper state for such service, it will be necessary to have it cleaned and prepared before filling it with an oxygen-enriched mixture."

and

"Luxfer does not recommend using a mixture containing more than 40% oxygen with Luxfer scuba cylinders. Moreover, Luxfer does not recommend partial-pressure blending (PPB)3 of oxygen mixtures in Luxfer scuba cylinders."

Fun to Dive on 17/92 does a 34% premix. If you're in the area for a very reasonable cost.

Mike,

The cylinders come with protective plastic caps, and are wrapped in plastic bags. This would protect against any fumes entering the cylinder.

As for the putative truck driver, where in God's name are you going to find a truck driver willing to take the time to open the boxes, tear open the plastic bag, remove the plug, and jam his supposed work glove down into the neck????

As the Spanish say: "Calmate, calmate, amigo!" Or as we say, ease up on that coffee, lad!

Professional Diving Industries (PDI), in Melbourne, FL, have a DNAx Membrane System. They bank 36%. They also provide divers with a list of dive businesses in South FL and the Keys that make Nitrox using membrane systems.
