Greetings,

I’m trying to decide between LP50 doubles and LP45 doubles, but I haven’t been able to find any buoyancy data for the LP45s. Does anyone here have experience with them?

depends if you have the PST or faber/oms ones. faber 45s go butt light when empty whereas the PST are closer to neutral but start butt heavy.

i think doubles that small are dumb though, sidemounting them is way better. or just go with LP72s for backmount.

I know lots of people using LP50 doubles with a ChOptima. I would not use them for OC and rather go with AL72 if you want to stay light. The 45s and 50s are too close to a single A80 to make it worth it for me.

A pair of 50s offer a lot more gas than an AL80. More like an LP104.
They are my most used OC tank.

20cf more doesn’t justify for me the additional complexity and the need for a dedicated setup that I cannot travel with (because I mostly find A80s, A72s, or S12s when traveling).

If I need more gas it’s 2xA80 or 2xS12 depending on location and what’s available.

This is just my personal preference.

thanks for the info! I use choptima and I need a pony doubles set for shore dive

I am a cold water diver, when using HP133 doubles, I still need 10 lbs of weight to dive. For shore diving with a Choptima, using LP50s or LP45s would be a more practical choice.
