To my knowledge I've never experienced any other symptoms of acid reflux, but I can see how that might happen. I will discuss this with my doctor and take a Zantac before my next dive and let you know what happens. We should be diving again next weekend. Thanks.

Hi Folks,

I'm late on seeing this post, but as a "Master Underwater Vomiter", I highly sympathize. I have tried all sorts of medicines and tricks (those patches make me faint), but finally have had some success with a homeopathic medicine called "Cocculine" in France (it's a combo of "cocculus, tabacum, nux vomica and petroleum", whatever that means). Even with this, I sometimes get sick (although I don't get as sick when I'm taking photos, so this problem could be psychological).

But I was surprised to see how others "vomit underwater". When I see it's coming, I take the reg out and do it right there. (Although on land, you reflexively inhale afterwards, underwater you don't.) I then put the reg back in, exhale or purge, and next start photographing all the fish that come around!

Good luck!

Tricia, Thanks for your suggestions, I will have to try that. I tried the Zantac that was suggested and nope I still got sick.....We went back to Maui this summer and dove at Lanai, it was soooo beautiful, we even saw the dolphins several times, octipus, lots of different fish. We went to 1st and 2nd Cathedrals, can't say enough about how awesome it was.... So much fun except for getting sick, I knew it was coming and I didn't want to go up, so for the first time I stayed down and did it, pretty gross. Nice to know I can stay down though if I have too. Its bad to be the only one on the boat sick enough to hurl. Still I would love to go back.
