Just wanted to tell everyone
on the board THANKS for all the advice
regarding regulator selection.

I decided on Apeks ATX50 and love
it. Thanks SCUBABOARD

Glad you like it. I recently bought that one too and I really like it as well.

I'm in the process of buying gear.

I'm getting the ATX50 reg and alt.

Question....

I can get the first stage with a swivel.

Should I??

The difference between the DST (Dry Sealed Turret) and the DS4 (Dry Sealed 4) is the swivel, or turret, on the first stage.

Many people argue that the turret is an extra failure point. My rationale is even simpler: quite often, the DS4 is cheaper, and it's smaller than the DST. I don't find the use of a turret useful once I've established a proper hose routing anyway.

....my LDS said the swivel would be helpful
if I decide to mount doubles in the future, but
he said for single tank diving it does not really
matter.....

I dive doubles and use my DS4's that don't swivel and I have no problem with them.

I have the DST, it works fine and we've had no problems with it, but if I had to do it over again I suspect I'd get the DS4 just because its abit smaller. The primary reason I got the DST was that my LDS stocked those and would have had to order the DS4. Don't get me wrong, I'm not the least bit unhappy with the DST, in either configuration its a great reg that you can't go wrong with.
