I was parked next to a red convertable mustang the guys had just gotten out of the water. The tank would have been in the middle of the lot

OK... this is helpful.
We're a pretty small community, one of us might hear about a "found" tank through the grapevine.

I mean it would be great if the person who picked it up finds you directly, but not everyone is on Scubaboard.

I'll keep an eye open for it.

I don't know anything about this incident and was diving the park at Catalina yesterday, but I do know that equipment has sometimes been lost at Marineland - from the back of pickup trucks or when left out while diving. When I've seen someone lose a tank on a dive it usually stays connected to the regulator. When it disappears from a truck its better if the regulator is not connected.

It's not all that uncommon to leave a tank. I was diving with a guy that left before me & left his tank. The only way I noticed it was the valve wasn't fully closed & I heard the hissing.

Happy Diving
