Don't know who to talk to, so I guess it is SCUBABOARD. While diving at Anacapa Island off the Santa Barbara coast I lost my wedding ring this weekend. Not sure how it happened, I am guessing it fell off while putting on and/or off my dive gloves. It can't be found on my boat or in my gear, so that only leaves the ocean! So far my wife (of eight months) is being really cool and understanding about it. So much so, that I am afraid to go asleep--if you know what I mean! Anyway, if I die during the night, you all may want to check out the local papers for the estate sale. My SCUBA gear is cheery, so you should be able to get a really good deal.

If she believes your little story, good for you.

Technically, you are no longer married.

Sounds to me like you have an excellent excuse, I mean "reason", to go back there and dive again, and again, and again . . . .

Sounds like a good story. It won't go over so well if that ring is found and returned by a non-diver.

I lost my wedding ring once while water skiing. (My wife was with me.) We were able to replace it. Now, when diving, I take my ring off and leave it at home or hotel.

If my ring were to come off my fat little finger, it could only be because some creature and its teeth were involved.

Highly recommend "personal article insurance" on things like wedding rings - and scuba gear for that matter.

Knight … be afraid… be very afraid…

Women tend to be very possessive of and have a focused mentality toward wedding rings … especially the one they put it on your finger.

In my case my wife decided that due to my extreme hobbies (SCUBA, Skydiving) and after 9/11 when I was activated by the reserves and deployed overseas that she was not going to risk “her” diamonds by my losing or having some terrorist steal my ring off my body (I think she watches to many movies).

So she bought me a “field” wedding band for diving, jumping and work. Now I can only wear the “real” wedding band on special occasions and she will tell me when that is.

Good luck, I think you’re going to need it.

This is just my opinion, but from many years of diving and other activities - not only is diving with a wedding band (or any ring) not a good idea because of the chance of losing it - but it's dangerous. I was walking the gunnel of a boat (small cabin cruiser type) one day in a wetsuit and slipped - the ring hung on the top of the cabin and I almost lost my finger, I hung there for a few seconds (seemed like hours) before I managed to free myself - had a couple of other close calls and had to have the rings cut off - married for 35 years and to this day I do not wear a wedding band and only wear my college ring for work (I'm a teacher), church and "dress-up" social events.

About a month ago I had a similar event happen. I was cleaning and hanging my gear after a dive in the lake and felt like something was missing but I could not place my finger on it?? As I was washing my hands after I noticed the tan line on my finger where the ring should have been! about ten milliseconds later the OHHHH ****EEE feeling came over me. I immediately told my wife I had to go back to the staging area to look for the wring as I could just see it zinging off into the tall grass as I took my gloves off. She to was very cool about it and grabbed a flash light to come help me look. Before leaving the house she asked me if I checked my glove for the wring (which I had). I told he I would look again and low and behold it was sitting in the finger of the glove right where it would have been if my finger was still in it! I got very lucky on that one. Check your glove again and check well because it could be sitting in the finger like mine was! Needless to say I take my wring off before diving now and it stays at home!!!

good luck
